I stumbled across this space-age looking automated kitty litter box, the Litter Robot, while watching "Your Pet Wants This" on Animal Planet. I thought it was too good to be true so I set out to do a little research. After reading a ton of Litter Robot reviews, I learned that most customers were satisfied with the original Litter Robot but the newest model, the "bubble" version, may not be worth the extra few dollars. Apparently, the original Litter-Robot works way better. Scroll down for a list of websites and forums where you can read first-hand Litter Robot reviews from owners.

How the Litter Robot Works

First off, the Litter Robot is a self cleaning cat box. The top part of the automated litter box is a sphere with an opening in the center. The sphere or "globe" is set on top of a base that has a pull-out drawer underneath. The actual kitty litter (any brand of litter works except for Feline Pine) goes right in the sphere.

After Mr. Kitty does his business, the sphere rotates dropping the 'business' down a chute where it lands in the waste-removal drawer. The Litter Robot globe will rotate seven minutes after the cat gets out. Don't worry about it turning on while he's in there as it won't work if there is a cat inside.

Litter Robot Details

There are currently 2 types of the Litter Robot.

Litter Robot LRII

The original is the Litter Robot II. It is available in three colors, gray, beige or black. It measures 29" high, 22" wide and 24" in diameter. It's retails price is about $329.

Litter Robot Bubble

The newer model is the Litter Robot II Bubble. It's also available in gray, beige and black. This model has a clear plastic window towards the back that supposedly lets in more light. The official Litter Robot website claims "Clear 'Skylight/Bubble' type window mounted in Globe expands front to back depth by 3 inches and adds natural light to the litter chamber. Great for larger cats." I honestly don't see how the window provides anymore space. (Fell free to comment below) The measurements on this one are exactly the same as the regular model. It retails for $349.00.
